Sea Cloud vessels will not sail for the rest of the winter season. The decision was taken looking at the state of the pandemic and the resurgence of fresh cases because of the Omicron variant. Many cruise ships that continued sailing have seen virus outbreaks and onboard isolation difficulties.
Looking at the cruising situation right now, it was a good call to cancel the winter season. The company stated that the cancellation was necessary because access to reliable, necessary health care could not be guaranteed for guests and crew in case of suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases while in the Caribbeans.
The vessels will be docked, not redeployed. Sea Cloud Spirit will wrap up her inaugural cruising season on 5th January, 2022, and then remain in layup till Spring.
Tentative sailing dates are available for early 2022:
• Sea Cloud will sail from Lisbon on 21st April. All crew members will be required to be present onboard in Las Palmas by the middle of March because the vessel will need to change location.
• Sea Cloud II will resume sailing from Lisbon on 19th April. All crew members are required to be onboard in Las Palmas by the middle of March because the vessel will need to change location.
• Sea Cloud Spirit first begin sailing from Las Palmas on 2nd April. All crew members are required to be present onboard at Las Palmas by the middle of March.
